TIP: If you have hydraulic oil on your brakes shoe then it is best to replace with new brake shoes.
The common theory is the oil will burn off burning braking restoring the shoes to new. Old wives tale.
Brake shoes are bonded to a metal backing plate with what is essentially a glue.Hydraulic oil is extremely corrosive. Do not put hydraulic oil on your cars paint work else next morning, no paint.
Hydraulic oil is one of the greatest paint and glue strippers ever made.
Hydraulic oil on old brake shoes or pads will disintegrate the pads when in dry, normal use.
After replacing leaking master cylinders, replace the shoes for a perfect repair job. © Steve Wotherspoon
